Our verdict, if you don’t read another word: in the Baby Trend vs Graco choice, buy the Baby Trend Sit Right 2.0 if you’re buying one high chair for home, and add the Graco as a second chair if you need one that’s small. We’ve had both for about a year and a half. The Baby Trend is our 5 out of 5 and did about 95% of our feeding until we recently bought a Stokke Tripp Trapp. The Graco is our 4.5, smaller, lighter and easier to clean.
One note on scope. We cover high chairs as gear. When a baby is ready to sit and eat is a question for the AAP and your pediatrician, and how to fit the harness and use the chair safely is a question for the manual that ships with it and the CPSC, rather than a blog.
The quick verdict
This isn’t really a contest between two chairs doing the same job. The Baby Trend is a full-size high chair that lives in the kitchen. The Graco is a compact one. Most of the decision comes down to whether you’re buying your only chair or your second one.
If it’s your only chair, the Baby Trend is the one. It reclines, it adjusts to six heights, and when the high chair stage ends it becomes a toddler chair. Those are the things that carry a chair through the first couple of years, and the Graco doesn’t offer them the same way.
If you already have a main chair, or your kitchen can’t spare the floor space, the Graco is the better pick. It’s smaller, lighter, quicker to put together and easier to clean.
Buy the Baby Trend for everyday meals at home. Buy the Graco as the second chair, or as the first one only if space really is the deciding factor.
Four differences that decide it
The first is adjustment. The Baby Trend has 3 recline positions and 6 height positions, so it meets a dining table, a kitchen counter or a low coffee table. If you want your only chair to recline and adjust in height, the Graco isn’t the one.
The second is size and weight. The Graco weighs 10.5 lb and is genuinely small standing up. The Baby Trend weighs 14.95 lb and measures 22“ × 31.75“ × 42.13“ assembled. It’s only moderately portable, and it lives in one room.
The third is cleaning. We scored both 4 out of 5, so neither is a chore. The Graco’s tray has the better design: a clear top insert lifts straight off, so only the dirty part goes to the sink, and its fabric and straps come off for washing without a fight. The Baby Trend’s tray is dishwasher-safe with a one-handed release, and its fabric seat pad detaches and washes, which the listing never mentions. Our routine for both is in how to clean a baby high chair.
The fourth is set-up. The Graco went together quickly. The Baby Trend’s first assembly took some doing. After that, opening and closing it is easy, so this is a one-time cost, but it’s a real one.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baby Trend Sit Right 2.0 | 5 | 3.5 | 4 | 4 | 3.5 first time, 4.5 daily | 4.5 |

The Graco wins more of these columns, and the Baby Trend still gets the higher rating. That’s on purpose. The columns don’t weigh the same, and everyday ease of use is the one that decides whether a high chair gets used. Our ratings are a judgment about living with each chair, not the average of this table.
Baby Trend Sit Right 2.0: the everyday chair
A full-size high chair rated to 40 lb, with 3 recline positions, 6 height positions and a removable, dishwasher-safe tray with 3 positions of its own. It works as a reclined infant seat, a high chair, and a toddler chair once the tray comes off and the seat drops to its lowest height. It folds narrow and stands on its own, at 22“ × 14.63“ × 46.88“.
What we like
- Reclines and adjusts to six heights
- A real toddler-chair mode for after the high chair stage
- Dishwasher-safe tray and a seat pad that washes
- Did about 95% of our feeding for a year and a half
What we don't
- Heavier, at 14.95 lb, and it stays in one room
- The first assembly is fiddly
- Folds narrow, not flat

Graco: the second chair
A compact, free-standing high chair on beechwood legs that weighs 10.5 lb and has a 3-point harness. Those legs put it in the best wooden high chairs too. Its clear tray insert lifts off and is dishwasher safe and BPA-free, and its crevice-free seat has fabric and straps that come off to wash. It’s sold as four stages up to 60 lb, from high chair to big kid chair. We’ve used the high chair stage.
What we like
- Small and light, at 10.5 lb
- Quick to assemble
- The easier tray to clean, with a lift-off clear insert
- Our top score for build quality
What we don't
- Not the chair to buy if you want recline and height adjustment
- Folds, but not flat
- We are not sure we will keep it into the later stages

Which one fits your home
If you’re buying one high chair for home, buy the Baby Trend. Recline, six heights and a toddler mode are what carry a chair through the first couple of years.
If you already have a main chair and want a second, buy the Graco. It’s small, light and quick to set up, which is what a second chair needs.
If your kitchen genuinely can’t fit a full-size chair, buy the Graco, and accept that you’re giving up recline and height range for the space.
If cleaning is the part you dread most, the Graco’s lift-off tray insert makes the daily clean-up the easier of the two, though we scored both the same overall.
If you hate assembling things, the Graco is the easier start. The Baby Trend’s first build is the fiddliest of any chair we own.
If you want a chair that folds away completely, neither is ideal. The Baby Trend folds narrow and the Graco doesn’t fold flat. The fold-flat chair we’d buy is the Primo PopUp, which goes up against the Graco in Primo PopUp vs Graco.
The bottom line
The Baby Trend Sit Right 2.0 is our 5 out of 5 and the chair to buy if you’re only buying one: it reclines, adjusts to six heights and becomes a toddler chair, and it was the one we used every day for a year and a half. The Graco is our 4.5 and the better second chair: smaller, lighter, quicker to assemble and easier to clean. Many families end up with both, which is exactly what happened in our house. The chair that has since replaced the Baby Trend in our kitchen is the Stokke Tripp Trapp. All six of our chairs are ranked in the best high chair, and our high chair buying guide covers what to check on any of them.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Baby Trend Sit Right 2.0 or the Graco better?

Which is easier to clean?
We scored both 4 out of 5 for cleaning. The Graco has the better tray design, with a clear top insert that lifts off, and its fabric and straps come off for washing. The Baby Trend's tray is dishwasher-safe and its fabric seat pad detaches and washes, which the listing does not mention.
Which is easier to assemble?
The Graco. It went together quickly. The Baby Trend's first assembly took some doing, though opening and closing it day to day is easy after that.
Which is lighter?
The Graco, at 10.5 lb against the Baby Trend's 14.95 lb.
Do they have 5-point harnesses?
No. Both have 3-point harnesses. How to fit and use the harness is a question for the manual that ships with your chair rather than a blog.
Which lasts longer?
The Baby Trend is rated to 40 lb and becomes a toddler chair with the tray off. The Graco is sold as four stages up to 60 lb. We have used both up to about 30 lb. We are confident in the Baby Trend's toddler mode, and on the fence about whether we will keep the Graco into its later stages.
